The first book I have chosen is called Family.
Our sentence of the week is "In a big house lived a big family" and our observation questions include counting, naming colours, drawing circles around things and describing actions.
The text and questions are simple enough, but I don't want to overwhelm Nikki with too much focused Russian. Up to now, we have used Russian mostly while playing and I have introduced a few words at a time (colour words/animal names etc) and not expected conversation. Now that his spoken vocabulary is increased and he understands simple questions, even if he won't answer them, I will use these books to encourage conversation. This will be enough of a challenge!
